See Inside DANNIJO Co-Creator Jodie Snyder Morel's Dreamy New Nursery
The
jewelry maven and her husband worked with Homepolish to design a room
for baby Margaux that is as stylish as it is functional. Here, she gives
ELLEDECOR.com an exclusive look at the space.
Jodie Snyder Morel and her husband Greg Morel recently teamed up with Noa Santos, co-founder of the interior design firm Homepolish,
to transform their guest room/office into the perfect nursery for their
daughter Margaux. And with Snyder Morel's history as the co-creator of
beloved jewelry line DANNIJO,
the room needed to have plenty of style as well as substance. And the
finished project is exactly that: a peaceful, airy space that Margaux
can easily grow into, with unexpected touches of color and eye-catching
art indicative of Snyder Morel's fashionable background.
The
family and designer were able to quickly agree on an aesthetic for the
nursery, something Santos attributes to Snyder Morel's keen
understanding of her own style and tastes. "Jodie's been a force in the
jewelry industry for a while, which meant she brought to the table a
clear understanding of her own aesthetic," he said. "Picking out
inspiration and product was a breeze and there's no arguing with a
pregnant timeline."
After
explaining that she and her husband wanted a room that their daughter
could grow into, not a typical nursery, Snyder Morel was impressed with
how well Santos was able to take those ideas and execute everything
perfectly. "He focused on finding key pieces to bring everything
together," she said. "We started with the furniture and then
accessorized the space after. Design is always a process and it's nice
to build a space in steps so you can feel the vibe of the space
develop."
And when the
room was finally completed before the baby's arrival, Snyder Morel was
bowled over by how much she adored the space. "I loved it so much I
wanted to move in," she said. "We finished the nursery a few weeks
before I gave birth and we were so excited to have a special place to
bring Margaux home to."
"I love the color pallette. Soft whites, creams and greys - just how
I'd like to wake up if I was a baby named Margaux living in a chic
Tribeca apartment." -Noa Santos.
"We focused on
texture and created playful moments with stuffed animals and art. We
have a large painting of a giraffe by Jenna Snyder Phillips, a piece by
Lyle Owerko, furniture from ducduc, a raw crib from Kalon studios and
lots of soft textures like sheepskin rugs and pillows. The room feels
girly in a bohemian gypset way." -Jodie Snyder Morel
"Noa did a great job
making everything we needed fit in the space without it feeling
cluttered. The space feels very peaceful and calm." -Jodie Snyder Morel
"The most important ingredient of each project for me is the
relationship between me and my client. The stronger that relationship
is, the more I care about them, the better the space always is. And I
love this space, but more importantly so does Jodie." -Noa Santos
"We didn't want the space to feel like a traditional baby's room." -Jodie Snyder Morel
