Final evening of Menswear Spring/Summer 2016 show in the Carreau du Brow involved nineteen women’s looks, in the homage towards Californian new music landscape, reinterpreting this 1990s teenager character type in the grunge resurrection evocative of Kurt Corbain in addition to Courtney Love.
Last night's Menswear Spring/Summer 2016 show at the Carreau du Temple included 19 women’s looks, in a tribute to the Californian music scene, reinterpreting the 1990s teen spirit style in a grunge revival evocative of Kurt Corbain and Courtney Love.
“I wanna be 16” The music blared out over the Saint Laurent Menswear Spring/Summer 2016 show, in a special soundtrack arranged by Cole and Max Becker from the band Swimmers. Hedi Slimane declared black as the color of the collection with the invitations sent in the form of his famous black notebook for a show inspired by Billy al Bengston, a figurehead of surf subculture in the States. After the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, Hedi Slimane brought the 1990s, that golden age of grunge and Kurt Cobain, back to life with 77 silhouettes (58 menswear and 19 womenswear) that revisited teen spirit style. The women’s looks from Cruise 2016 were nostalgic of Courtney Love in the 1990s, with ponchos, leather and denim jackets thrown over vintage-style white slip dresses, or head to toe sequins and Doc Martin-style boots with white ankle socks. Has the tone for the coming seasons just been set?
